Gettysburg Address 156th Anniversary Presentation Ceremony in Springfield Illinois

Today is the 156th anniversary of Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. We were honored to attend the Ashikaga Abraham Lincoln Gettysburg Address at the Old State Capitol in Springfield Illinois this morning. The annual Abraham Lincoln Gettysburg Address Speech and Essay Contest’s winners from Springfield’s Sister City of Ashikaga, Tochigi, Japan presented the Gettysburg Address in the Hall of Representatives. Springfield Mayor James O. Langfelder delivered welcome remarks to the Japanese delegation. Artisan Business Group, Inc. is the local sponsor of the 17th Gettysburg delegation from Japan.

Tomorrow will be the anniversary for Lincoln’s famous Gettysburg Address. On November 19, 1863, President Lincoln delivered a short speech at the end of of ceremonies dedicating the battlefield cemetery at Gettysburg, PA.
