Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker’s stay-at-home order has been extended through end of April. The governor, through the Illinois Department of Public Health, has “supreme authority” to declare and enforce quarantine or isolation.
Governor J. B. Pritzker made very clear that health experts don’t really know when the peak in cases will come, how long it will last and what happens after that. The April 30 date for the stay-at-home order is an educated guess based on science, modeling of the Covid-19 virus’ growth and experts’ advice, he said.

As more Illinoisans continue to be infected by Covid-19 mainly in Chicago area, it is very likely another shorter extension will be declared at the end of April.
